Online help for Help & Manual 4:

The help for Help & Manual 4 from EC Software is a pretty major project. It covers every aspect of producing help and documentation with this powerful new HAT (help authoring tool) that was released at the end of August 2005. It is actually more a hypertext book than a regular help file. Compiled to PDF file it is over 1,000 pages long, and there are 533 topics and nearly 3,500 hyperlinks.

This help was authored with Help & Manual 4, and as a result the browser version is very much superior to all former versions. It is compatible with all major browsers and also works without problems on older browsers and security-restricted browsers with JavaScript turned off.

Online help for the Impict graphics editor:

Impict from EC Software is a specialized graphics editing tool for enhancing the screenshots used in online help and documentation.

It is integrated in the Help & Manual help authoring tool, EC Software's main product.

The online help for Impict combines basic instructions with step-by-step projects that show the user how to get results fast while learning to use the program. This is complemented by a complete context-sensitive reference to all program tools, features and functions.

Impict turns ordinary screenshots into snappy images that make help and documentation projects look much more attractive and professional.

About the browser-based version of the Impict help:

The help system for Impict was authored and compiled with Help & Manual 3.x from EC Software. The version distributed with the program package is in HTML Help (.CHM) format. The browser-based version provided here was generated from the same source, also using Help & Manual 3.x. This is different from and has less capabilities than the web-based help generated by version 4.

Browser compatibility

The dynamic menu system generated by H&M 3 is not so compatible with all major browsers as the versions. For example, in Opera only a static menu is displayed and the help is not compatible with the Konqueror browser running on Linux systems.
