Qualifications and Background
Like many in today's IT world, I didn't
take the direct route to my present profession. I majored in Greek
literature and linguistics at Birmingham University in England,
graduating first class with special honors, and also spent a year
at Saloniki University in Greece. After spending some years travelling
in Europe and Asia I ended up in Germany, where I have been living
since 1978.
In addition to my IT authoring work I also work as a technical
and literary translator from German to English, and occasionally
as a freelance photographer. Click here for more details.
Equipment and Testing Facilities
To write a good help system you have
to know the program you are describing inside-out, and this means
performing extensive testing of all functions and facilities.
On most of my projects I conduct extensive testing on multiple
computer systems and a wide range of MS Windows configurations.
I interact closely with the programmers and this frequently results
in development input and suggestion that help to make the programs
more efficient and user-friendly.
